The government has delayed IR35, but it’s still committed!

It’s taken a global pandemic to postpone the implementation of IR35 to 2021, but the government has stressed it’s still very much committed:
“The government’s decision to delay the roll-out of IR35 to the private sector will be welcome news to large corporates as this temporary measure is sure to ease the administrative and financial burden given the coronavirus pressures they will inevitably face,” said Sarah Stenton, tax director at Stewarts.

A welcome decision for many but as companies have already been preparing for the legislation much of the damage has been done, companies are unlikely to reverse any decision already taken in respect to contractor and freelance workers.

A positive from this decision is businesses now get 12 months to get up to speed and ensure they make fair and accurate decisions regarding IR35.

Are you happy that IR35 has been delayed?
